Deciding to try and make a blog again was a weird decision. On the one hand, I have a lot to say (you probably already know this if you came from mastodon) and on the otherhand literally anything anybody posts to the public gets used to train ai. It's a bizarrely precarious scenario to find yourself in. How do you post about cool stuff to show colleagues and friends without it just getting looted? Sigh.

I guess the solution is to just talk about it, and try to entice folks to come see it in person or over a webinar or a meeting or something - which is a high bar these days. You look at the news and suddenly:

So I made another personal blog. This is my.. fourth, I think? The first few were exceptionally cringey in retrospect. Hopefully this one ages better.

I'm trying pelican out, because it seems straightfowrward enough and I can run the entire backend on my laptop and publish from anywhere. Seeing all these 2002-2005 era personal one-page sites crop up covered in those ancient rectangular bages gave me super nostalgia, so I spent a saturday afternoon beating gpt in the face with a brick to help me take a screenshot of an ancient 1999 enlightment e13 theme and convert it as closely as I could to a functional pelican theme.
